A bit of Alpha Malehood...

On "Halley's Comment": Alpha Male Links -- Lessons 1 through 18 (via "Joi Ito's Web": Hey, Halley, Here I Am).

Hum... This is really funny, sometimes sad... sometimes true (from my point of view). But at the end, I think this is too easy to say that, I mean life is far more complex, far more contextual.

Here is an excerpt, to laugh a bit:

We were surely leaving a "I Wanna Girl Just Like The Girl That Married Dear Old Dad." era, to a "I Married A Girl Just Like Dear Old Dad And She's Got A 7:30 Board Meeting." Yes, it was no more "Hi, Honey, I'm Home. What's For Dinner" but rather "Hi Honey, I'm Home And Of Course I Picked Up Junior From Daycare And Got Take-Out Chinese Because You''ll Be Glued To The Computer All Night Doing That Excel Spreadsheet You Didn't Get Done Last Night When I Wanted To Have Sex, But, Oh Yeah, I Remember, We Don't Have Time For That Anymore."

This one from How To Become An Alpha Male -- Lesson 16: Power Play: for me, this is the part of the essay to be too simple... reality is more fine grained, a complex social grid of inter-relations.
I am now looking for an “Alpha Girl”...

One good definition of Rammstein

Rammstein, the German forebearers of keyboard-inflected Wagnerian speed metal, are at it again, with Mutter.” (Kieran McCarthy on Windows Media Player powered by "AMG" – take a look at the excellent "AMG All Music Guide").

Update: And an excellent website, "Planet Rammstein".

Publications

Even more on Howard Dean

I wanted Howard Dean to write on a blog. He will do it: “Howard Dean is going to guest blog for Lawrence Lessig while he is away on vacation” (on "Joi Ito's Web": Howard Dean is Larry's guest blogger).
Can you imagine: the american wired candidate writing on the blog of the cyberlaws' pope!!

Choosing the appropriate words with E.T.s

According to Danny Ayers ("Raw Blog": SETI alert), the use of recent discoverings in linguistics (“Swedish Chef. Bork Bork Bork!” [Google in “Bork, bork, bork!”], Klingon [Google in Klingon], “Personal Syndication” – but I would add: “Elmer Fudd's wanguage” [Google the way of Elmer Fudd], “Hacker's L4|\|GU4G3” [Google the way of Hacker], Pig Latin [Google in Pig Latin]; and we must not forget the “geek code” and the “blogger code” to be more accurate and straightforward with personal syndication) could help us progress faster in the search for extraterrestrial intelligences; what we have to do is just use the good words through SETI:

bork bork bork, borg, blog!

Weblogs as campaign tools

“Movable Type - the choice of presidents”... Hum... I am waiting for those candidats to really WRITE on their weblogs...
As a delightful comment on Kasia's weblog said it: “I wonder when AL Gore is going to get one... considering the fact that he invented blogs/blogging.” (joke). Wait and see!
But for the moment it looks uneasy to see that in France...

(On "kasia in a nutshell": “The first presidential candidate with a weblog”.)

USA need to fight themselves

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.
